craniosacral therapy

BoDo Chiropractic is proud to offer CranioSacral therapy to the Boise Community.

CranioSacral therapy is a light touch approach that works with the craniosacral system to release restrictions and tension in the central nervous system. When this tension is released, the body gains more ease and can engage in it’s natural healing process.

OUR OFFICE OFFERS ADDITIONAL MODALITIES SUCH AS REIKI, JIN SHIN, AND SOUND HEALING

Hayley and Magdalena, our craniosacral therapists, tailors sessions to the clients' specific body/energy needs and may use just one of the modalities listed above or a combination.

The craniosacral system is made up of the membranes and fluid that surround, protect and nourish the brain and spinal cord.  When we experience trauma and stressors we compensate to limit the impact on our bodies. These compensations can result in tissues in the body tightening, which in turn effects the craniosacral system and the flow of cerebrospinal fluid.  Restrictions in the craniosacral rhythm can disrupt the nervous system and potentially other systems in our body.

Craniosacral therapy is for all walks of life. Benefits include a release of emotional and physical stress/tension. It also helps restore cranial mobility and ease or release restrictions of the head, neck, and nerves. Conditions that could benefit from craniosacral include but are not limited to:

  • Migraines/headaches

  • Constipation

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

  • Scoliosis

  • Sinus Infections

  • Neck pain

  • Fibromaylgia

  • TMJ

  • Trauma Recovery (including whiplash)

  • difficult pregnancies

In addition to craniosacral therapy, Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing art that promotes stress reduction and relaxation. Using universal life force energy, Reiki supports energy flow within and around the body. This energy is loving, nonjudgmental and works for our highest good. When we are connected to this sacred energy, healing and well being of mind, body, and spirit transpires.

craniosacral therapy & ankyloglossia, also known as a Tongue-tie

Ankyloglossia, also known as a tongue-tie, is a condition in which a short, thick band of tissue tethers the bottom of the tongues tip to the floor of the mouth. This can create strain patterns that originate in the extrinsic muscles of the tongue and is often associated with feeding difficulties, malocclusion, difficulty swallowing, and speech difficulties. When these difficulties occur, the autonomic nervous system is put under stress and the reticular activating/alarm system (RAS) is in overdrive.

Craniosacral therapists "listen" with their hands to the motion of the craniosacral system to locate areas of restriction, secondary to the strain on the system from frenulum restraint. Therapists use very light touch, between zero and one gram for an infant, to improve functioning of all of the body's systems. Babies go through many transitions which can be extremely stressful, especially when there are difficulties sucking, swallowing and breathing. Due to these transitions, working with a craniosacral therapist can greatly help disperse the accumulated stress and is highly recommend pre and post tongue-tie revision.

Not only does craniosacral therapy help with ankyloglossia, chiropractic does too! Ideally, following your baby's revision, they should be seeing both a chiropractor and craniosacral therapist. Chiropractic care will ensure proper alignment and function of the surrounding areas in addition to teaching you retaining stretches and exercises. Everything in the body is connected so when there is a restriction inside the mouth, it often results in restriction and tension in surrounding muscles.
